Hi Yogis, welcome to my humble yoga for beginners website. Yoga has been a part of my life for a few years now and not that I’m any master yogi or guru, I’m just here to share my journey as a yogi when I first started bringing yoga into my life.
When I first started yoga, I didn’t have anyone or anywhere to turn to, to really understand the foundation of yoga, the words used in yogi’s world, the mat that is suitable for me, the accessories – it can be a little overwhelming (especially when you’re the new guy in the class).
So I am doing this blog in hope to lighten the burden and to help anyone that’s just starting yoga and how to take the next step in embracing yoga into your life, based on my experience and knowledge that I have 🙂
My Yoga Story & Why I Start Yoga
I started yoga when I first discovered that I have scoliosis. I was 23 years old at that time – pretty late for a person to discover that she’s been having scoliosis at 40 degree curve; which is enough to go under the knife. I got pretty scared, well to be honest, I was terrified.
Terrified enough that I flew to Australia to meet up with one of the famous chiropractors (you might have seen him on YouTube), Dr Ian Rossborough. He was a very lovely wonderful person, (in fact everyone in the practice was so lovely to me) & he told me that his partner also has scoliosis and that she does/teaches yoga. I started following her Instagram account and I was hooked.
I tried yoga in one of the local classes and I realized that I can’t let scoliosis stopped me from doing anything. And yoga has somehow helped me tremendously in helping me to embrace my curves & edges 😉
I felt more empowered than ever!
Yoga For Everyone
I believe that yoga can be practiced by everyone. You don’t need to flexible or fit to do yoga. You just need to be you and practice with an open mind 🙂
But I also believe that before practicing the whole asana flow, everyone needs to know the foundation of yoga, what muscles to activate and what you should be feeling on every asana that you do. The accessories that you might want to incorporate in your practice, and many more.
But. It’s okay. One step at a time! 🙂
Get On The Mat, Yogis
I will be sharing on yoga practices that beginners can do, that are easy at home to do practices and flows. Not everything is about split and handstand, so don’t worry. This is beginner friendly guide! 🙂
The main point is that you do what feels good with you and that you feel a thousand times better after each yoga practice. If you have any questions, comments or simply want to share with me, I’d be more than happy to hear it.
Switch on that inner light, my yogis!
